Give a bit of thought to your prom night outfit: jacket length, colour and what you choose to wear underneath – white or coloured shirt? Waistcoat? Cummerbund? (the wide satin belt that goes round your waist)

Before you look at your options, check with you’re date about the colour and material of her dress and if she has any thoughts on what you wear?

Add polish detail:

• Have your hair cut and styled at least a week before prom

• Splash out – co-ordinate shower gel and aftershave

• Clean the shoes!!!

• Ask your date what she’s wearing. She may or may not want you to match your tie/waistcoat to her colour scheme – but ask

• Ask your mates what they’re wearing – black tie formal or something a bit different. If you’re hiring from a shop or on-line you may get a discount if you’re hiring several suits

• It’s nice, (but not necessary), to buy your date a corsage of flowers. Again its best to ask if she’d like something to pin on her dress, or popular now, the wrist band corsage. The colours will need to match her dress

• Sort out the limo or whichever form of transport your using. If you go to the Joy Rides Directory you’ll find some great companies in your area. Pay for it in advance making sure you’ve collected the money beforehand. It saves carrying wads of cash on the night

• However, do bring a small amount of cash on the night – there’s always incidentals

• Enjoy your self and don’t do anything you’d rather not be remembered for the rest of your life!
